Born in San Francisco, Joanna Rieke currently resides in the northeast. She received her degree in communication from Boston University and Maryland Institute College of Art with a concentration in art history and photography. In 2009, she initiated a project documenting the intersection between Irish literature and everyday life towards a Fulbright grant. Preliminary photographic work was shortlisted for a Lucie Scholarship and received support from Burren College of Art and the National Photographic Archive in Ireland. Her work is published in various publications and she is the Founder and Editor of the art and publishing review site, AHORA. As a journalist with a background in art, she also covered Medal Day at The MacDowell Colony, promoted exhibitions and programs at the ICA/Boston and recently worked in press relations on behalf of the international Flash Forward Festival 2011.
